New 'Tomorrowland' Trailer Puts George Clooney in Action

Tomorrowland just went next level.

While the filmmakers are still keeping the enigmatic plot under wraps, we are treated to tantalizing new glimpses of the Disney movie in the latest trailer, above. Specifically, there’s a lot more action involving George Clooney, newcomer Britt Robertson (The Longest Ride), and the most lethal futuristic robots this side of The Terminator.

The whimsical first full trailer of the Brad Bird-directed sci-fi adventure, with its echoes of The Wizard of Oz, established that young Casey (Robertson) has gotten her hands on a pin that somehow alters time and space. Now, in this new trailer, the stakes are higher as she seeks answers from Frank (Clooney), who is shacked up in what appears to be a dilapidated house (and is anything but).

Here are three new revelations that get us closer to decoding the secrets of Tomorrowland:

Force Fields

That pin apparently isn’t the only way to transport between the time/space dimensions.

Robots

A secret military force has been deployed to retrieve the mysterious and powerful pin. But we don’t know they’re really machines until one of 'em gets caught in Frank’s force field trap.

Laser Wall

It quickly becomes apparent Frank has a whole lot of tricks up his sleeve at this old house.

Secret Passageways

Reminiscent of the expanding bedroom in 1981’s Time Bandits, Frank has an escape pod in his bathroom.

For reasons still unexplained, Frank and Casey need to visit this apparent alternative universe — a place that exists in their collective memory — to “fight for tomorrow.” Somehow the 1964 World’s Fair, a mystery box unearthed at Disneyland, and a kind of warping water all play a part.

But we’ll have to wait until Tomorrowland hits theaters May 22 to figure out how all the puzzle pieces fit together.
