Latest 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Ad Features Old Friends and New Foes

Having a rough day? You might need this: Late last night, Lucasfilm debuted a new TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and while it consisted mostly of footage we’ve seen before — including scenes of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) on Jakku, and a dogfight between TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon — we also get some cool new glimpses of the movie, which opens Dec. 18. Most exciting is this shot of what appears to be an underground bunker for the Resistance, where Han Solo (Harrison Ford), the newly minted General Leia (Carrie Fisher), and C-3PO have huddled together, making plans. But look closer: Who’s that in the far right corner?

That red-faced fella — it’s a chap! — appears to be none other than Admiral Ackbar, the Mon Calamari military man who helped the Rebels destroy the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi, and also inspired a series of stupidly endearing web memes. Hey, Mon! Good to see you again! But, uh, has anyone told you how uncomfortable it makes everyone when you stroke your tendril-giblets in public?

Other highlights include a shot of Han standing in front of the Falcon and handing Rey a blaster, noting, “You might need this.” Hey! There’s no Hansplaining in the Star Wars universe:

We also see Finn’s TIE Fighter take off hastily from a hangar, possibly in an effort to get on line early for Force Awakens’s opening night:

There’s also a brief flash of Finn wielding his lightsaber while battling a Stormtrooper:

The ad’s final highlight finds Han taking aim with his blaster, while Chewie lags behind a bit. That’s Han for you: Always shooting first.
