New 'Moana' Clip: Hear the Soaring Lin-Manuel Miranda Anthem

In need of another inspiring musical moment from Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda? We thought so. This new clip from Disney’s Moana (in theaters Nov. 23) features the soaring ballad “We Know the Way,” written and performed by Miranda and New Zealand musician Opetaia Foa’i. The dazzling scene shows the title character’s ancestors setting sail on the Pacific to discover new lands. Watch it above.

Along with the clip, Disney has released a featurette (below) on how Moana — about a teenage girl who undertakes a magical sea journey — was influenced by Polynesian history, culture, music, and traditions. “We learned how important the ocean is [to Pacific Islanders]. And that’s where the idea came from to make the ocean a character in the movie,” says director Ron Clements. “This is an opportunity to show my culture to the world,” says Dwayne Johnson, who voices the demigod sidekick Maui (and whose ancestry is Samoan). “I really think they made something special.”
