This Harrison Ford cover lets fans take a good, long look at next-generation Han Solo. He’s swapped out his reliable vest for a leather jacket, but the rest of the silhouette is familiar: The open-collar white shirt, the giant belt buckle, the gun holster, the leather boots, and even the blaster are all vintage Han Solo. Even his blaster looks the same. And we’re sure it’s no accident that his pose recalls the classic shot below, released as a production photo by 20th Century Fox to promote the original film.

R2D2 is looking a little weathered and C-3PO has his red replacement arm, but otherwise, Luke Skywalker’s faithful droids are in fine form. Threepio and Artoo (played in the new film by original cast members Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker) have frequently been captured in similar poses, as in the cover of the vintage Star Wars Storybook and the image, below, from the original film.

Here’s Daisy Ridley striking an action pose as heroine Rey. Though she doesn’t have the lightsaber that might be her birthright, she’s clearly battle-ready.

John Boyega, who plays Stormtrooper-turned-Rebel Finn, is still sporting his First Order weapon and gear as he poses for EW. Both Boyega and Rey have an element of mystery to their characters: Their last names have not been revealed, which director J.J. Abrams has said is “completely intentional.”
