An eerie new trailer for Gone Girl debuted on Emmy night, focusing on the unraveling of a seemingly perfect marriage.

The minute-long teaser opens with Ben Affleck’s Nick wooing Rosamund Pike’s Amy. “Who are you?” she asks. “I’m the guy to save you,” Nick says as an unsettling score runs underneath.

"This man of mine may truly … kill me," Amy says in voiceover before footage of Nick’s public plea to find his wife focuses a spotlight on their relationship. It isn’t too long before Nick becomes Suspect No. 1 in Amy’s disappearance when he fails to answer simple questions like who her friends are and what her blood type is.

"Are you asking me if I killed my wife?" asks Nick incredulously at the trailer’s climactic moment.

20th Century Fox and New Regency will release the David Fincher-directed Gone Girl on Oct. 3, but the film, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Pacific Standard, will have its world premiere as the opening night gala screening at the New York Film Festival.

The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote the screenplay. Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry co-star.
