New 'Captain America: Civil War' TV Spot Shows Spidey in Web-Slinging Action

Spider-Man has starred in five solo features, but it’s worth remembering that he’s still a newbie within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanks to a unique partnership between Marvel Studios and Sony, New York’s own web-slinger is joining #TeamIronMan in Captain America: Civil War, which pits mighty metal man Tony “Iron Man” Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) against red, white, and blue patriot Steve “Captain America” Rogers (Chris Evans). The movie gives us our first look at Spider-Man in his new incarnation, donning a vintage Steve Ditko-inspired costume complete with mechanical eyes.

And the new Spidey (played by Tom Holland, who won the role following a competitive casting process) displays a lot of youthful enthusiasm during his MCU debut. In this new Civil War TV spot, Spider-Man is seen trading blows with Cap’s best friend-turned-international assassin, Bucky, a.k.a. the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), when he pauses for a moment to marvel at his opponent’s hardware. “You have a metal arm? That is awesome, dude!” the wall-crawler quips. Nice to see that Spider-Man is as big a geek as the rest of us Marvel fans.
