New 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer Features Plenty of Ultron Putting Hurt on Heroes

This time around HYDRA didn’t spoil the big reveal. While the teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated blockbuster sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron leaked on the web before Disney planned to unspool it — causing Marvel studio boss Kevin Feige to blame the whole hack on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s sinister archnemesis, the new trailer bowed as intended — during college football’s National Championship on ESPN Monday night. (Hulk’s gotta be an Oregon fan, right?)

Maintaining the dark vibe of the initial teaser, the new Ultron features even more visuals of our heroes in peril. The titular baddie, featured prominently here and voiced by James Spader, is wreaking all kinds of havoc on humanity. We see a city in shambles; a brief glimpse of a gun-wielding Andy Serkis (though we still don’t know who he’s playing); a shadowy, half-naked figure in a cave; Thor losing his patience with Tony Stark; Ultron putting the hurt on both Thor and Captain America; and still more footage of the Hulk-Hulkbuster throwdown.

We also get more of flashes indicating Ultron has a robotic team of his own.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will kick the summer movie season off with a bang — well, from the looks of it, quite a few bangs — when it opens May 1. All seven of the superheroes from the first film, along with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, return, while new characters include the menacing twins Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen, briefly seen here zapping Iron Man) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson), as well as the Vision (Paul Bettany), who still remains unseen in any official capacity.
