A Muammar Gaddafi TV series is in the works.
Entertainment One and Palomar have partnered to develop Gaddafi, a drama from Gomorrah creator Roberto Saviano about the late Libyan tyrant. Gaddafi creator Saviano will write the TV series with Nadav Schirman (The Green Prince).
"This is a TV series about a warrior, a dreamer, who becomes a savage and merciless tyrant. A multimillionaire oil tycoon and a vicious oppressor," said Saviano in a statement. Gomorrah, which aired on Sundance TV, was based on the best-selling book by Saviano, and the series ranks as Italy's all-time most popular TV show.
"We are delighted to have Roberto and Nadav on board this impressive project. Roberto's commitment to research and his ability to weave the details of Gaddafi's rise and fall into a tapestry of captivating storytelling will make for great television," added Carrie Stein, executive vp global production at eOne Television in her own statement.
Saviano and Schirman will executive produce Gaddafi. Stein and Polly Williams will spearhead the project for eOne, and Carlo Degli Esposti and Nicola Serra are on board for Palomar.
eOne controls worldwide rights to the series.
