Morgan Fairchild, Anne-Marie Johnson to Be Honored by SAG-AFTRA

SAG-AFTRA has named Morgan Fairchild and Anne-Marie Johnson as the recipients of its Ralph Morgan Award, the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local’s highest honor.

The awards will be presented on March 6 at the annual Los Angeles Local membership meeting at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.

“Both of these accomplished women embody the award’s spirit of self-sacrifice through their countless hours of committee and board service for both SAG and AFTRA,” said Jane Austin, president of the local. “Additionally, these women have made significant contributions outside the boardroom for the betterment of all performers and have worked tirelessly on numerous social issues.”

Fairchild served nine years on the Screen Actors Guild’s national board and sat on AFTRA’s Hollywood board for another seven years. She was one of the original members of the Hollywood women’s political committee. As the first celebrity AIDS activist, she starred in the informational “Safe Sex for Men and Women” about AIDS education and prevention.

Fairchild’s acting credits include the TV series “Flamingo Road,” “Paper Dolls,” “Falcon Crest” and “Fashion House.”

Johnson was active for more than 15 years as a Screen Actors Guild national board member and officer, including four terms as a first vice president. Johnson also served as an AFTRA national board member from 2009 to 2012.

Johnson was national chair of the ethnic employment opportunities committee and a member of SAG’s affirmative action/diversity task force. She co-created the African American Television Report, which detailed studies concerning African-American performers on primetime network television, and served on the negotiating committees for the union’s master contracts covering TV and features.

Johnson starred in the TV series “In the Heat of the Night,” “What’s Happening Now,” “In Living Color,” “Melrose Place” and “JAG.” Her feature film credits include “Hollywood Shuffle,” “Strictly Business,” “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” and “True Identity.”
