Brian Gerber, a film producer missing since Monday afternoon, was found dead by the Angeles Crest Highway Wednesday morning, an individual with knowledge of his case told TheWrap.
The Los Angeles Coroner's office told TheWrap it is investigating the death of Brian Gerber, age 41. That is the same name and age as the film producer, who left behind a suicide note, individuals with knowledge of the case told TheWrap.
On Facebook, a post on Gerber's page, written under his name, said: "Our worst fears regarding Brian Gerber have been confirmed. Brian's family thanks you for all the condolences, good thoughts, prayers and asks for your patience and understanding during this most difficult of times."
An Amanda Copeland then posted on Gerber's page that Gerber was found on the Angeles Crest, and there will be an announcement regarding a memorial service soon.
Earlier in the day, the Crescenta Valley Station of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department issued a statement that the body of a man in his early 40s had been found on the Angeles Crest highway after crashing his car.
That is the same location where an individual close to Gerber confirmed his car had been found.
Gerber's family reported the 41-year-old as missing on Monday after finding the suicide note, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division to open an investigation.
The Wrap reported that the police had found his car, a 2004 Toyota Prius, on the highway. At the time it was unclear if the body was found on not.
The Coroner's office then confirmed the identity Wednesday afternoon of the body as one Brian Gerber. Trini Godoy is investigating for the coroner's office.
Gerber has spent much of his career in Hollywood producing documentaries, such as "The Dungeon Masters" and "The 11th Hour," a documentary on global warming that Leonardo DiCaprio co-wrote, co-produced and narrated.
The existence of a suicide note paired with Gerber's background in Hollywood raises the specter of Tony Scott's death earlier this month. Scott, a famed Hollywood director and brother of Ridley Scott, jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro Aug. 19.
Gerber is survived by his wife, actress Arabella Fields, and two young sons.
