‘Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates’ Trailer: Can Efron & Devine Out-Party Kendrick & Plaza?
Mike and Dave are brothers. They party, they ruin family events, and they have a sister. And said sibling is planning a destination wedding in Hawaii. Their father mandates that both dateless guys must bring dates to the nuptials. So the Stangle bros go on a TV talk show and appeal to the masses to find just the right women for the job. What possibly could go wrong?
Adam Devine and Zac Efron star in Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, whose premise sounds like it
should be Fox’s next reality competition series. Their televised plea — “We’re looking for nice girls” — is answered by Alice and Tatiana (Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza), who see it as a chance for a free trip to the islands. Tatiana and Mike, er, meet cute when she stages being hit by a car and he “saves her life.” From there, it’s a game of one-upwomanship as the guys are out-everythinged by their wild counterparts. Bocce ball? Better. ATV riding? Better. Partying? Better. Dates 3, dudes, zero.
Jake Szymanski directs the film from a script by the Neighbors duo of Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Stephen Root, Sugar Lyn Beard and Sam Richardson co-star. 20th Century Fox gets the party started July 8. Have a gander at the trailer, and let us know what you think.
