Michael Keaton In Early Talks For ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Villain Role
Batman might be fighting Superman and Captain America might be squaring off against Iron Man, but it’s looking like the biggest superhero fight may pit Batman against Spider-Man, as we’re told that Michael Keaton is in early talks to join Spider-Man: Homecoming in an unspecified villain role.
Sony and Marvel have declined comment on the talks, which would see Keaton don tights for a comic book film for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns — unless you count Birdman, of course.
Tom Holland plays the webslinger himself in a major supporting role in Captain America: Civil War before headlining Homecoming with Marisa Tomei, who also appears in Civil War playing Aunt May, and Zendaya appearing in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Keaton’s possible Spidey villain for now is being kept secret, but rumors coming out of CinemaCon this week, first noted by Birth Movies Death, have it that the studios are considering classic Spider-Man villain The Vulture, either as the main villain or as part of a Bond-style opening sequence. The Vulture previously was a possibility for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, with John Malkovich in talks. John Watts is directing Spider-Man: Homecoming, with John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein writing.
