Michael Engler To Direct ABC Drama Pilot ‘Notorious’
Michael Engler has been tapped to direct ABC drama pilot Notorious, from Josh Berman and The Firm.
Inspired by the relationship between famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and long-time Larry King Live executive producer Wendy Walker, Notorious was written by Drop Dead Diva creator Berman and blogger Allie Hagan (Suri’s Burn Book). Described as a provocative look at the interplay of criminal law and the media, it follows the professional and personal relationship between a charismatic attorney and a powerhouse television producer as they attempt to control the media, the justice system, and ultimately – each other.
Engler is coming off a DGA nomination for his work on Downtown Abbey. He also previously received Emmy and DGA directing noms for 30 Rock and Sex And The City. He most recently directed episodes of You, Me And The Apocalypse, the British dramedy acquired by NBC starring The Grinder’s Rob Lowe.
