Michael Cera to Voice Robin in 'Lego Batman'

Michael Cera has inked a deal to voicestar as Robin, Batman’s partner-in-crimefighting, in Lego Batman, Warner Bros.’s big-screen feature spinoff of The Lego Movie.

The movie reunites much of the behind-the-brick talent fromLego Movie and features Will Arnett returning as the voice of the Dark Knight.

Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the custodians of the Lego screen brand, are producing. Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on Lego Movie, is directing.

The script was written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith.

Cera, additionally, has acquired the film rights to Masters of Atlantis, the novel by Charles Portis, the author who also wrote True Grit.

Cera aims to write the adaptation as not only an acting vehicle but directing project as well.

The humorous Atlantis, published in 1985, was set in the first half of the 20th century and told of a young man that becomes entangled in a quasi-religious cult centered around the lost city of Atlantis named the Gnomon Society.

Up next for Cera is a voice-starring role in Sausage Party, Seth Rogen’s animated ensemble set to open August 16. Cera is also writing and starring in Netflix’s revival of Arrested Development.
