Megan Fox Drops Some Serious Turtle Knowledge in a 'TMNT' Refresher Course

Megan Fox plays April O’Neil in Friday’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, but she also happens to be an expert on all things Heroes in a Half Shell, having been a fan since childhood. It’s been a while since most of us have beheld a slice of Turtle Power — there was that animated 2007 movie TMNT that very few folks saw, but otherwise their last big-screen adventure came in 1993 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.

So when Yahoo Movies caught up with the Transformers alum recently, we asked if she wouldn’t mind giving us a refresher. We know the turtles are all named after Renaissance artists (Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michaelangelo) and are fiends for pizza. But we wanted to go a little deeper: Who, again, is the leader of the turtles? The most underappreciated? The most sensitive one? The one Fox would one go to if she had a personal crisis?

Not only did Fox oblige — at points she dropped some serious knowledge in regards to the ninjas’ mythology. Check out this excellent bit of turtle psychoanalysis: “Raphael is aggravated and he thinks because he’s the biggest and maybe he has this choleric personality that he should be the leader,” Fox said while explaining why it’s Leonardo, not the forceful Raphael, calling the shots. “But he’s not ready! He’s too impulsive. He’s lead by Mars, the god of instinctual warriors, but that’s not who we need as leader.”
