CHINA: Wang Baoqiang, 29

Part of the trio that turned Xu Zheng's road-trip comedy Lost in Thailand into China's biggest box-office hit ($200 million and counting), Wang deftly moves, Will Smith-like, from comedy to drama (the Cannes competition entry A Touch of Sin) to action (the upcoming Iceman franchise).

FRANCE: Omar Sy, 35

Sy claimed superstar status as the ex-con caregiver in The Intouchables, which earned $426.6 million worldwide and won him a Cesar -- the first black man to take France's top film honor. Sy will make his studio debut as Bishop in X-Men: Days of Future Past and has a supporting role with De Niro and Christoph Waltz in Stephen Gaghan's upcoming crime thriller Candy Store.

GERMANY: Matthias Schweighofer, 32

Combine Woody Allen's bumbling with Ryan Reynolds' abs, and you have the formula that has made Schweighofer Germany's hit machine. Writing, directing and starring in rom-coms, he regularly beats Hollywood imports at the box office. Fox is eyeing his most recent feature, The Break-Up Man, for a U.S. remake.

INDIA: Katrina Kaif, 29

The success of 2012's As Long as I Live, which stars Kaif and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, reaffirmed her as India's box-office queen, as will her upcoming mega-sequels: Dhoom 3 and Dostana 2. As an ambassador for more than a dozen major brands, including L'Oreal, Panasonic and Kodak, her face is everywhere on the subcontinent. "Kat," as fans call her, even has a Barbie doll named after her.
