The woman who gave Chrissy Teigen brown bananas says her 'life has changed'

Chrissy Teigen is known for routinely making Twitter an awesome online space — and she did so again on Thursday while using the social media platform for crowdsourcing six brown bananas to help complete a banana bread recipe. One of the tweeters who answered her call was Meg Zukin, a recent L.A. transplant who now finds herself in the unexpected spotlight that comes with helping a celebrity complete her baking mission. And yes, her life has changed.

Thanks to Meg Zukin, we now have this GIF of Chrissy smelling her fresh-from-the-oven banana bread. (GIF: Chrissy Teigen via Twitter)

“My life has changed in the sense that my phone battery dies a lot faster because whenever I’ve checked any of my social media there are dozens of notifications,” Zukin tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I’m sure this will die down within 15 minutes.”

Zukin wrote about her experience on Medium, sharing how the whole event transpired.

“I was watching South Park (season 6, episode 10) when I saw Chrissy’s plea and remembered the fruit in my kitchen going to waste,” she wrote. “Then I took the selfie heard around the world while my boyfriend ignored the multiple takes and bananas rolling around (extra browning).”

Zukin connected with Teigen through DM, where Teigen told her she’d vouch for her as an official Chrissy Teigen recipe taste tester. (“I’m adding it to my résumé,” Zukin wrote. FYI: She’s already added, “I gave @chrissyteigen my brown bananas” to her Twitter profile.)

Then she handed over the bananas and walked away with an autographed copy of Teigen’s cookbook, Cravings, a Becca x Chrissy Teigen palette, and a pair of John Legend’s underwear — which Zukin had said she was promising she’d slip on to absorb Legend’s energy.

“I haven’t yet slipped on the pair,” Zukin confesses. “Yesterday was a roller coaster and today I’m babysitting all day (my current career). But maybe tonight after I have a glass of red wine…”

Here’s Chrissy cutting into the bread, which she actually had to get one more banana for from another stranger before finishing:

And showing off the finished product:

So how did Zukin get here? After attending college in the L.A. area and spending her summers interning and living in Los Angeles, Zukin decided to make the big move. As for her career goals, she says, “I want to write eventually, but right now I’m looking for anything remotely in the entertainment industry.”

So while unemployment has been a pain, at least it afforded her the opportunity to connect with Teigen — and do a little press in the process. Zukin was interviewed on the On Air With Ryan Seacrest radio show on KIIS FM Thursday morning. Meanwhile, Dole reached out to send her a little something extra after they watched the exchange between her and Teigen go down.

But of course, the most important question is this: Does Zukin even like banana bread?

“Yes!” she says. “I am a huge banana bread fan and I am looking forward to tasting her now perfected recipe. Maybe I’ll even feature it on my food Instagram (@wineme_dineme).”

Here’s hoping that banana good deed turns into some karmic career good luck!
