Would Matt Damon ever consider taking a leap into the superhero universe, just like his pal Ben Affleck did when he put on the Batman mask? Speaking at the London premiere of Jason Bourne, the franchise star left the door open under one condition — that his Good Will Hunting collaborator be behind the camera.

When an interviewer joked that Damon could be the Robin to Affleck’s Batman, Damon addressed the thought: “I’d consider anything with the right director, but I can’t imagine there are any superheroes left, I think they’re all taken at this moment. If he [Ben] was directing me, I’d jump on it in a New York minute. I’d love to work with Ben.”

The duo, who won Best Original Screenplay Oscars in 1998, have not written/directed/starred in a movie together for many years, though they collaborate via their production company. While Damon has stayed in front of the camera, Affleck has helmed three well-received dramas, including the Oscar-winning Argo.

“The problem with Ben is every time he directs a movie, he gives himself the best role in it, so until he’s willing to give up the best role to one of his friends, we’re not going to get on with it,” joked Damon. Affleck has already confirmed that he will direct his own solo Batman movie; sounds like all he’s got to do now is come up with a juicier role than the Caped Crusader in it, and send a Bat Signal in Damon’s direction.
