Matt Damon Declares Jason Bourne Would 'Obviously' Win Fight With James Bond

Who’s better? Jason Bourne or James Bond? Ever since the first Bourne movie came to theaters in 2002, it’s been a fun little hypothetical matchup to think about. I have an opinion on that, but before we get to it, let’s hear what the star of the Bourne franchise himself has to say — Jeremy Renner. Just kidding. It’s a quote from Matt Damon.

In an interview with GQ Australia, Damon sided with his character, saying: “I like Bourne better than Bond. Bourne has today’s values; Bond has the values of the 1960s. Daniel [Craig]’s Bond has upgraded him and brought him more into the present, but, classically, that character is a misogynist who likes swilling martinis and killing people and not giving a s***.” Whereas Jason Bourne is a serial monogamist — and he’s tortured by the things he’s done and feels empathy and compassion for other people.”

And maybe it was the multiple workouts a day talking, but Damon gave his character the nod in a straight-up tussle, saying, “Bourne would obviously win in a fight.” Is that true? Would Bourne obviously win in a fight? He definitely seems like the more gifted fighter, but Bond does have the ability to pull off what seem to be humanly impossible moves. Hmm … I guess if they squared off mano a mano, the winner would probably be … Batman. You should know this by now — Batman always wins.

Who would win in a fight: Jack Reacher or Jason Bourne?
