Zach Galifianakis and Kristen Wiig Get Extremely Stupid in First Trailer for 'Masterminds'

Need to give your brain a little break? Enjoy watching funny people acting absolutely stupid? Want to see Zach Galifianakis shoot himself in the butt?

You’ve come to the right place.

Above, check out and enjoy the sheer idiocy that is the first teaser trailer for Masterminds, the new heist comedy from Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess.

When you’re done watching, you may be shocked to learn that the film is actually based on a true story about the Loomis Fargo robbery (called the Hillbilly Heist in North Carolina, where it took place). The real-life heist saw a bank employee and a former co-worker steal $17 million from the Loomis Fargo cash handling corporation (the largest bank robbery in American history), then promptly get caught thanks to sloppiness and a terrible getaway plan. An audacious double-crossing subplot makes the whole thing even more insane, as does the cast involved with the big screen “adaptation.”

Galifianakis plays David Scott Ghantt, a vault supervisor and armored truck driver who is at the center of the crazy robbery, while Kristen Wiig plays Kelly Campbell, the former co-worker that lures him into the plot while also planning to kill him. Add in Jason Sudeikis as the prospective assassin and Owen Wilson as a getaway driver, and you’ve got a project that could be plain stupid funny.

The film hits theaters this summer.
