Lucasfilm Isn't Happy With Amy Schumer's GQ 'Star Wars' Cover

By Graeme McMillan

Amy Schumer’s photoshoot for GQ features the comedian and Trainwreck star enjoying post-coital cigarettes with R2-D2 and C-3PO, dancing with Stormtroopers and finding a new way to enjoy a lightsaber. Fun stuff for Star Wars fans, perhaps, but Lucasfilm has let it be known that it is not so amused.

In a tweet posted Thursday afternoon on the official Star Wars account, the company suggested that neither Lucasfilm nor its owners, the Walt Disney Corporation, had been aware of the use of the Star Wars characters ahead of time. “Lucasfilm & Disney didn’t approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner,” the tweet explained.

The cover shoot became an online sensation since it debuted earlier this week, with GQ also posting an outtake, designed by Schumer herself on its website.

GQ has, at time of writing, not responded to a request for comment.
