Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, 'The Martian,' and More: 2016 Golden Globe Predictions

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 73rd annual Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday morning, and we can’t wait to see who will take home the gold.

While the contenders in its superb cast were snubbed in the acting categories, Spotlight still has to be considered the awards season frontrunner, especially in the top race for Best Motion Picture, Drama. Director Tom McCarthy’s spellbinding story about the Boston Globe’s takedown of the Catholic Church should edge out The Revenant, Carol, and Room. But if you’re looking for a dark horse, don’t count out fan favorite Mad Max: Fury Road.

Although Best Motion Picture, Comedy/Musical nominee The Martian is definitely more of a sci-fi thriller than a comedy or musical, Matt Damon does have some zippy one-liners. Ridley Scott’s best film in a decade just may beat the likes of Joy and The Big Short.

The Golden Globe Awards air on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, on NBC. Stay tuned to Yahoo TV and Yahoo Movies for news on all the nominees.
