Joseph Gordon-Levitt Reveals Touching Tribute to His Deceased Brother

All Stephen Colbert had to do to get an exclusive from actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt was look down … at his socks.

The Snowden actor stopped by The Late Show as part of his press tour to promote his new movie, out this Friday. Colbert noticed his guest’s interesting fashion style.

“You had two different kinds of socks on the last time I saw you,” observed Colbert, “And you did it again,” pointing to Gordon-Levitt’s red socks, which had different patterns.

Gordon-Levitt explained that it was a touching tribute to his brother, Dan, who passed away six years ago. “My brother was this really sort of conservative, shy guy,” he said. “He decided he didn’t want to be shy anymore, and one of the first steps to not being shy was he started wearing bright-colored, mismatched socks.”

Levitt inherited his brother’s sock collection and started wearing his footwear to honor his brother.
