Taylor Swift has dabbled in acting, with parts in films like The Giver and Valentine’s Day, but she’s still waiting for that breakout big-screen project.

One thing is certain: That breakout will not come by playing Joni Mitchell.

The legendary singer-songwriter told the UK’s Sunday Times (via NME) that she learned that Swift was tentatively cast to play her in an adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book Girls Like Us — and put the kibosh on it.

“I squelched that!” she told the paper. “I said to the producer, ‘All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones.’ It’s just a lot of gossip, you don’t have the great scenes.”

Mitchell did not cooperate with Weller during the writing of the book, which also looks at the lives of fellow music icons Carole King and Carly Simon, the latter of whom was the only one to work with the author on the book.

“There’s a lot of nonsense about me in books,” Mitchell added in her conversation with the Times, “assumptions, assumptions, assumptions.”
