Johnny Duncan, ‘Batman and Robin’ Serial Actor, Dies at 92

Johnny Duncan, who starred as Robin in the 1949 serial film “Batman and Robin,” has died. He was 92.

According to a statement provided by his family, Duncan passed away at his Florida home on Feb. 8 with relatives by his side.

Born on December 7, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, he learned to tap dance at an early age and helped provide for his family that way. Then, at the age of 15, he was discovered by a talent scout who sent his whole family to Hollywood.

At 26, Duncan was cast as Robin in the 15-chapter 1949 serial, “Batman and Robin,” and later worked on films including “Caine Mutiny,” “Delinquent Daughters,” “30 Seconds Over Tokyo” and “Spartacus,” as well as TV appearances on “Dallas” and “Dynasty.”

Duncan also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Duncan is survived by his wife Susan Duncan, children Cathy, Sean, Mandy, Maranda and Landon, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
