John Boyega Steps Up in Finn-tastic 'Force Awakens' TV Spot
“You don’t know a thing about me,” says Finn (John Boyega) at the start of the new TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well, it’s true that we don’t know his last name, but we do know he’s a Stormtrooper who defects from the First Order and joins the Rebellion. While the last few trailers have focused on heroine Rey (Daisy Ridley), this one gives the spotlight to Finn, along with some new footage of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and the unstoppable BB-8. Watch it above, and read on for the highlights.
After some introductory shots of Finn, we see Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) passively observing as Stormtroopers lay waste to…something. Looks a lot like that fortress in the forest that burst into flame as Rey watched in the last TV spot.
Still in the forest, Finn confronts a Stormtrooper who’s wielding some kind of space-age taser.
It’s okay though, because Finn is armed with that oh-so-significant blue lightsaber.
Still, Finn is nervous about defying his former comrades, as seen in a brief moment with Han Solo. “You sure you’re up for this?” asks the veteran Empire-fighter. Finn responds with an honest, “Hell no.” Meanwhile, the faithful Chewbacca heads straight into the action.
And now, BB-8 performs his best impression of Fred Astaire dancing on the ceiling. Is there anything this little droid can’t do?
Finally, we’re back to Finn, who seems to have gotten the hang of this fighting-the-bad-guys thing, and gives a Han-worthy whoop from the gun turret of the Millennium Falcon.
