Jennifer Lawrence Finally Meeting Bill Murray Proves Even Your Craziest Dreams (and Fears) Can Come True!

Anyone who knows Jennifer Lawrence knows the Hunger Games star is obsessed with Bill Murray. In 2012, while promoting Silver Linings Playbook, the 24-year-old actress recounted that she’d once spotted the 64-year-old Murray at a Critics’ Choice Awards function — but was too nervous to approach him. “I just stared at him awkwardly, as I’ll continue to do every time I see him at these functions,” she told The New York Times. “He’s gonna start asking if that creepy girl is gonna be there again, staring at me.” She also once showed a Vanity Fair reporter a photo she had stored on her phone, depicting a $5 bill with Murray’s face on it. “Once I’m obsessed with somebody,” she told VF, “I’m terrified of them instantly.”

It looks like Lawrence finally got over her fears. On Thursday, while in town for the San Diego Comic-Con, the actress finally met Murray, who was there to promote his forthcoming movie Rock the Kasbah. The actress, who was headed toward her own panel for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2, ran into the former Ghostbuster backstage. No word yet on what the two might have talked about. But given Murray’s history, we wouldn’t be surprised if he whispered something in her ear before saying goodbye.

Murray isn’t the only celebrity to inspire starstruck terror in Jennifer Lawrence. She memorably freaked out on camera when she met Jack Nicholson for the first time at the 2013 Oscars:

And the Homeland fan literally turned her face to the wall to avoid an encounter with Damian Lewis at last year’s SAG awards. (“My ears are so red, aren’t they?” she squealed when she finally turned around.)

Then, of course, there was the time she ran away from Jeff Bridges at a previous Comic-Con.

And in a 2013 Vanity Fair story, Lawrence talked about yet another idol who left her petrified: Meryl Streep. “One time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!,’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep,” said Lawrence. She didn’t actually meet Streep that night, she told the reporter — she “just creepily stared at her.” Given the number of awards ceremonies they’ve attended together, we're sure Lawrence has met Streep by now. If not, we hope it happens soon — and that there’s video.
