Love him or hate him, Jared Leto’s interpretation of the Joker is a highlight of Suicide Squad — and it hasn’t even come out yet. As its heavy Comic-Con promotion unfolds, Suicide Squad has released an extended look at the Joker, giving us a better look at the result of his extreme method acting. Leto looks to be virtually unrecognizable in character with the abundance of tattoos, white face makeup, and green hair-dye. As Joel Kinnaman states in the trailer, “He’s a psychotic, anti-social freak.”

Although the Joker’s role in Suicide Squad has been previously vague, new reports and information help shed some light into his role. According to Fandango, the Joker becomes jealous when his romantic interest, Robbie’s Harley Quinn, teams up with her own band of villains — so the Joker goes and starts his own group of bad guys. The promo clip also gives us a glimpse of Harley kissing the Joker, indicating that their relationship will feature some romance (but probably not the healthy kind).
