Watch Our 'In Memoriam' Video for the (Hopefully) Late Jar Jar Binks

Since 1999′s The Phantom Menace, most Star Wars fans have been united in their desire to see one thing in their lifetime: Jar Jar Binks’ gravestone. The walking Gungan migraine hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 2005′s Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, but with the news of this Christmas’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens came the unsettling fear of a great disturbance: Could Jar Jar possibly not be too far-far from a comeback? But mercifully, director J.J. Abrams seems to have granted us mercy: Over the last few weeks he has doled out one big reveal after another about the forthcoming film, with nary a mention of Binks. And in the new issue of Vanity Fair, Abrams went one step further, joking that he would be giving the character a gruesome send-off in the new film: “I have a thought about putting Jar Jar Binks’s bones in the desert [on the planet Jakku],” “I’m serious! Only three people will notice, but they’ll love it.”

And so we are filled with a new hope: In the Star Wars universe, it appears that Jar Jar has bought the farm. Watch above as we remember Jar Jar’s true legacy.
