Japanese singer-actor Win Morisaki has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One” for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow. He will play the role of Daito in the story of teenagers on a quest for riches in a futuristic virtual world.

Morisaki, 25, previously appeared in 2008 TV series “Gakko Ja Oshierarenai!” and the same year joined as lead vocalist of the boy band PrizmaX. He has had previous movie roles in Japanese features “Sherry” and “Gokusen: The Movie.”

Represented by Japan’s Stardust Promotion, Morisaki won the role after an extensive audition process.

Spielberg is directing, with shooting expected to start later this month. Producers of “Ready Player One” are Spielberg (through his Amblin Partners shingle), Donald De Line, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah.
