Wolverine Kisses Storm in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Deleted Scene

It took a whole lot of editing to get X-Men: Days of Future Past down to its two hour, 11 minute running time, which means that now, fans are being treated to bonus mutant material in the run-up to the Blu-ray and DVD release on Oct. 14.

For both hardcore geeks and fans of attractive people kissing, the deleted scene above featuring Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Storm (Halle Berry) making out is one of the best treats of them all.

Before Wolverine heads back to the past, he sneaks in a smooch with the weather-controlling colleague — in case, you know, he screws up the very fabric of time and they don’t get to make out again. This is a very satisfying moment for a certain sect of geekdom that fantasizes about the lives of their favorite heroes; there are plenty of websites devoted to the coupling of this particular pair, who carry the celebrity name RoLo (since Storm’s real name is Ororo Munroe and Wolverine’s is Logan). Seriously, check out this Tumblr and this fan fiction compendium about it. You definitely won’t regret it.

The fans aren’t just making up this power couple out of nothing. Storm and Wolverine have often been quite flirty together, and have had their share of dalliances, including in the October 2012 issue of Wolverine and the X-Men, which featured this steamy cover.

Perhaps the scene was cut because, ultimately, there’s not much of a chance that the two will be able to continue their romance in the next sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, which will focus on the younger X-Men timeline. That means much of the original cast, of which Berry’s Storm was a part, might not be able to join in on the fun.

When X-Men writer Simon Kinberg spoke to Yahoo Movies last month, he speculated about what it would be like to cast younger versions of characters like Storm and Cyclops if the production decided to go in that direction. "It’d be very hard to do, because Halle, Famke [Janssen], and Jimmy [James Marsden] and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life,” said Kinberg. “But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart.”

At least Storm appeared in Days of Future Past. Anna Paquin’s Rogue wasn’t so lucky: Her part was cut entirely, though she’ll now feature in an updated cut of the film to be released on home video next year.
