My, what big eyes you have, Johnny Depp! The Into the Woods star unveils his Big Bad Wolf for Entertainment Weekly, on one of four covers dedicated to the upcoming Rob Marshall fairy-tale musical. Depp’s lupine look has been kept under wraps until now; only his hat and paw made an appearance in the last trailer. For cover photo (above), the actor forgoes full-creature make-up for a stylized version of the wolf, with a fur-lined suit, mustache-like whiskers, and ears poking up from his fedora. Another Into the Woods costume making its big debut on the EW covers is Meryl Streep’s glam look.

So far, the trailers and promotional posters have shown her witch character as gnarled and haggard – but it’s not too much of a spoiler to say that she undergoes a transformation in the film. Streep’s new gown is styled with layers of blue fabric swirling around her, while her hair looks like Cruella de Vil with a really nice blowout. In the cover story, Streep tells EW that she couldn’t resist her role in Into the Woods (adapted from Stephen Sondheim’s 1987 stage musical). “I’ve been offered many witches over the years, starting when I was 40, and I said no to all of them,” Streep reveals. “But this was really fun because it played with the notion of what witches mean. They represented age and ugliness and scary powers we don’t understand. So here’s my opportunity to say, here’s what you wish for when you’re getting old.”
