Indie Director Lynn Shelton Talks About Her Cinematic Influences — and Why 'The Princess Bride' Is a 'Perfect Movie'

Laggies director Lynn Shelton certainly isn’t lagging in her passion for film. In this episode of “My Life in Movies,” she tells Yahoo about some of the movies that have impacted her own life and career, from Woody Allen’s Sleeper to the work of French filmmaker, Claire Denis. Shelton even gets casting ideas from watching other movies. For example, after seeing character actor Josh Pais ace a supporting part in Mike White’s Year of the Dog, she awarded him one of his most substantial roles in her 2013 film, Touchy Feely.

And while she adores a wide range of movies, one title towers above them all. “The movie I’ve seen more times than any other and would happily see another 50 is The Princess Bride. There’s no other movie like it. It creates its own world and its own tone. It’s a perfect movie.”
