Ever wished you could step into the Hunger Games arena? No? Well, you’ll soon get a chance anyhow, now that Lionsgate is creating a live stage show based on the film franchise. An “immersive” Hunger Games could be a scary prospect, particularly if flying arrows and killer monkeys are involved. But Imagine Nation’s other stage productions – the musical Soldier of Orange, which takes place in a rotating 360-degree auditorium, and Anne, a play about Anne Frank with life-sized sets – suggest that The Hunger Games will be an impressive production. To that end, a brand-new auditorium is being built next to London’s Wembley Stadium, specifically designed for this show. The Hunger Games theatrical experience opens in Summer 2016. No word on whether they’ll be selling snacks.
