Hugh Jackman Wants You to Write Wolverine Fan Fiction

The Wolverine 3, due out in 2017, will mark Hugh Jackman’s final appearance as the semi-feral mutant, capping an incredible nine-film, 17-year run. And while the film already has a well-respected writer and director —Heroes and Prometheus 2′s Michael Green, and The Wolverine and 3:10 to Yuma’s James Mangold, respectively — Jackman is asking his loyal fans what they want to see when he puts on his claws for the last time.

The 46-year-old Aussie actor put out a creative call to his fans via Twitter on Monday night, asking the rabid Jackmaniacs what they want to see Wolverine to do in his last adventure.

“My last time putting on the claws,” Jackman wrote. “What do you want to see happen? 50 words or less. I’ll read as many as I can.”

Technically, he didn’t suggest that he’d actually use any of the suggestions, but that didn’t discourage his fans from volunteering their ideas. Some suggested that the film tackle the famous “Old Man Logan” storyline, which originally ran in the comic books from 2008 to 2009 — and has, in fact, been teased by Jackman himself as the potential basis for the final film. The writer of that arc, Mark Millar, gave him an even easier assignment than playing an old man:

What do you think Wolverine should do in this final film? Do you believe he’s really hanging up the claws?
