Public service messages always go down easier when you have someone as handsome as Hugh Jackman delivering them, don’t they? The actor shared one Monday as he revealed that he’s being treated for skin cancer for the fourth time since November 2013.

“An example of what happens when you don’t wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless,” he captioned a photo of him with a bandaged nose. “PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups."

Prior to his latest bout, Jackman, 47, has had four skin cancers — three on his nose and one on his shoulder — removed in the last two-and-a-half years.

Jackman has explained that he first discovered he had cancer after a makeup artist on X Men: Days Of Future Past and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, urged him to get a bloody spot on his nose that wouldn’t go away checked out by a doctor. He had assumed the mark was a result of filming a fight scene or his character Wolverine’s ferocious claws.

"It’s always a bit of a shock just hearing the word ‘cancer,’” Jackman told People. “Being an Australian, it’s a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it."

Since then, reminders that fans should get checked regularly for skin cancer have popped up on Jackman’s Instagram account, which is otherwise filled with much more lighthearted selfies of Jackman working out at the gym and sampling restaurants.

Jackman has launched the Pure Sun Defense brand of sunscreen for kids since his first health scare. He’s also usually covered up in a hat and movie star-worthy sunglasses when he and his buff body are out in the sun.
