'Hot Tub Time Machine 2' Tackles Deflategate in New TV Spot

Now this is what you call topical marketing. Despite being filmed in mid-2013, the filmmakers behind Hot Tub Time Machine 2 have taken a couple choice scenes to craft a Deflategate-themed trailer for the upcoming sequel’s “Big Game” spot.

First there’s an introduction to Rob Corddry’s colonial incarnation, Patriot Lou (whereas in the first film the guys traveled back to the ’80s, this time they’re all over the timeline). But even more apropos, there appears to be a scene where newcomer Adam Scott’s junk actually inflates.  Well played, fellas.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (opening Feb. 20), meanwhile, wasn’t the only Super Bowl spot to drop Wednesday. We’ve also got a new look at Minions (out July 10), the upcoming Despicable Me spin-off, which you can watch below. This one is ball-joke free. Pants, however, are optional.
