His Dumb and Dumber To character can be crass, but behind the scenes, Jim Carrey is all class. Rachel Melvin, who stars opposite Carrey in the long-awaited sequel, tells The Insider that Carrey brightened her first day of shooting with a very sweet gift. “He’d gotten an orchid in the trailer for me that had a lovely little note welcoming me to set,” the actress recalls. That flowery gesture did wonders for Melvin, who was completely star-struck by the legendary comic actor. “When I met Jim, I stood up, I went right over to him, and I was like, ‘Listen, I grew up watching Ace Ventura. I’m really nervous to meet you, I’m shaking, but I swear to God in five minutes I’ll be professional and fine,’” Melvin tells The Insider. “And he just goes, ‘Aw, come here,’ and gave me this big hug.” Dumb and Dumber To opens in theaters November 14.
