Here's a Close Look at Rey’s Speeder from 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

If you’re a desert dweller with a need for speed, look no further than this new Star Wars vehicle! San Diego Comic-Con is displaying this replica of Rey’s speeder bike from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Built by Belgian Costume Design from blueprints provided by the filmmakers, it’s pretty darn close to the prop that star Daisy Ridley rides across the Jakku sands in the first Force Awakens teaser trailer. Now that we’re getting a good look at the speeder, a few observations:

Rey (Daisy Ridley) rides her speeder in the ‘Force Awakens’ teaser.

The bike recalls two classic Star Wars vehicles.

Its shape and color resemble the landspeeder that Luke Skywalker drove across his own desert planet, Tatooine, in_ Star Wars: A New Hope. _However, the way that the rider is positioned, and the bike’s hovering-motorcycle action, are reminiscent of the speeder bikes from the Endor forest chase in Return of the Jedi.

This bucket of bolts has seen some action.

Check out the dent at the front end of the speeder. Could it have been caused by a collision with a Stormtrooper or perhaps an angry Bantha? Besides that obvious mark, the bike shows plenty of signs of wear and tear, so it probably comes with some war stories.

Who needs a trunk?

It looks like Rey has found an efficient way to make her speeder carry cargo, using some bolts and an industrial-strength net. The contents look like bits and pieces recovered from other vehicles — and since Rey has been described by Ridley as a “scavenger,” that makes perfect sense.
