Helmut Newton Exhibit Coming to Annenberg Space for Photography

Merle Ginsberg

When the Annenberg Space for Photography debuts the first major L.A. show of Helmut Newton's photographs on June 29, the exhibition of over 125 prints – which will stay up through September 8 – will feature two brand new original films about Newton: Helmut by June, a documentary shot and directed by his wife of 56 years, June Newton, which will include the story of their long relationship, footage from shoots with Cindy Crawford and Helen Christensen in Saint Tropez, and a look into their private winter quarters at the Chateau Marmont.

The other doc, commissioned from Arclight Productions,  examines Newton's impact on fashion, women and photography from the point of view of the models, stylists, fashion editors and friends who worked with him - and David Fahey of the Fahey/Klein Gallery is also contributing person videos to it. We can only examine who will turn up for the opening of this show – a who's who of the L.A. monde and demi-monde.
