Arya Stark has confronted death and danger countless times as she’s wandered through Westeros. But at least she’s never had to face a wild hyena — at least, not yet.
Maisie Williams, the 17-year-old English actress best known as the plucky young Arya on HBO’s Game of Thrones, makes her feature film debut in the upcoming thriller Heatstroke. Williams plays the estranged teenage daughter of a scientist (Stephen Dorff) who accompanies her father on a research trip to Africa. After stumbling upon a pair of murderous rhino poachers, they find themselves on the run from not only the human hunters, but also by the vicious animals of the wild.
With the recent news that Game of Thrones has become HBO’s most-watched show in history, it’s not surprising that Williams is expanding her career into films. Her Stark siblings also have movies lined up for the near future: Richard Madden (Robb Stark) will be the Prince in Cinderella, Kit Harington (Jon Snow) stars in Seventh Son, Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran) is a voice in The Boxtrolls, and Sophie Turner (Sansa) co-stars in the action comedy Barely Lethal. So there should be plenty of Throne stars to hold fans over after the show’s current season ends this Sunday.
Heatstroke will be available on VOD and in select theaters on July 4.
