Bruce Willis Rumoured To Have Been Sacked By Woody Allen

Could Bruce Willis have been sacked from the new Woody Allen movie?

News emerged earlier this week that the ‘Die Hard’ star had exited the so-far untitled production, which also stars Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg.

The official line is that the scheduling has clashed with his starring role in a Broadway adaptation of Stephen King’s novel 'Misery’.

But some are questioning this explanation, notably because on the day that it broke, pictures emerged of Willis on set in Beverly Hills.

As has been rightly noted, usually the nature of scheduling is that jobs are planned in advance to avoid overlaps, rather than have them emerge when a project has already started.

And Willis did appear to be 'doing acting’ in the shots taken on set, appearing in costume in a scene with Eisenberg.

Such talk intensified when Jeff Sneider, a reporter on Hollywood industry site The Wrap rather bluntly added:

Another industry insider replied to the tweet, claiming inside knowledge that Willis was having issues with his lines.

Woody Allen is known for changing his casts if they’re not working, even when filming has begun, and even when those being given the boot are A-listers, and often with no ill will.

Michael Keaton was let go and replaced by Jeff Daniels in 'The Purple Rose of Cairo’ after 10 days of shooting, while Emily Lloyd was swapped out for Juliette Lewis in 'Husbands and Wives’, though it seemed that in this case the actress and director clashed.

Meanwhile on 'September’, both Christopher Walken and Sam Shepard played the role of Peter on camera, before Allen recast the role, with Sam Waterson taking over.

But equally, Willis has long had a reputation for being difficult to work with.

Director Kevin Smith famously slammed him after he starred in his movie 'Cop Out’.

In his memoir 'Tough Sh*t’, he wrote: “[Willis] turned out to be the unhappiest, most bitter, and meanest emo-b*tch I’ve ever met at any job I’ve held down. And mind you, I’ve worked at Domino’s Pizza.”

Sylvester Stallone has slated Willis too in the past, after he was cut from 'The Expendables 3’ due to a reported dispute over his contract.

Reps for Willis have maintained that the original story of clashing schedules, as first reported on Deadline, is the reason for his departure.

Allen is now recasting Willis’s role.
