'Guardians of the Galaxy' Sequel Gets Title

The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel has gotten a fitting title.

“Yes, the official title for the @Guardians sequel is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2,” writer-director James Gunn tweeted on Monday.

The title, which is more common for comicbooks than comicbook films, likely comes from Star-Lord’s (Chris Pratt’s character) famous mixtape, “Awesome Mix Vol. 1,” which played a pivotal role in the original film.

Gunn confirmed the news after Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige let the title slip prematurely during an interview with Collider at a press junket for Ant-Man. Filming is set to begin next year in London.

“We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in February-March 2016,” Feige told the site.

Marvel/Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017. Guardians of the Galaxy hauled a whopping $774 million worldwide.
