Sneak a Peek at Epic 'Furious 7' Action Sequence (Exclusive Clip)

Getting creative with cars is the Fast & Furious crew’s specialty. As seen in this exclusive clip from the highly anticipated new installment, Furious 7 keeps with that tradition as Toretto (Vin Diesel) leads the team through a high-speed chase with his trademark walkie-talkie commands.

The big difference this time is the high-octane action gets stretched in a sequence that lasts several minutes, Yahoo Movies has learned. The clip makes up approximately one-tenth of the action-packed scene’s length.

Toretto coordinates with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), who launches a couple of high-tech harpoons at the bad guys, one of whom is played by popular Thai action star Tony Jaa. Then Brian (Paul Walker's character) and Tej (Ludacris) are instructed to “blow it.”

At the 41-second mark Toretto tosses again to Brian to do a dangerous car-surfing move before he leaps onto the back of the baddie bus.

And if you’ve seen the trailers, you already know he gets caught in a literal cliffhanger, forced to climb, run, and jump from the bus in a nail-biting move. (See it play out here at the 1:20 mark.)

After Paul Walker died in a fiery car crash midway through filming the sequel, Furious 7 filmmakers decided to spend roughly $50 million more on top of the movie’s hefty $200 million budget to complete his scenes. They used two methods: The late actor’s brothers acted as stand-ins, with Walker’s face later added digitally; and unseen footage of the actor from previous Fast films was used. According to Variety critic Scott Foundas, who screened the film early, “It’s nigh impossible to tell whether he is fully real or partly virtual.”

Furious 7 races into theaters April 3.
