Considered a top priority at the studio given its franchise potential, Warner Bros. has closed a deal with “Game of Thrones” scribe Dave Hill and “Hanna” scribe David Farr to write “Merlin” for the studio.
Producer is Warner-based Donald De Line.
Hill worked his way up the “Game of Thrones” ladder, serving under series co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss before joining the ‘Thrones’ writing room. “Merlin” will probably sway to younger demo than “Thrones,” but the similar medieval setting explains why Warners would want to poach someone from that show.
Besides “Hanna,” the Curtis Brown Group-repped Farr also worked on the popular British TV show “MI-5.”
