New 'Furious 7' Super Bowl Trailer Finds Vin Diesel Driving Very, VERY Angry

The latest spot for Furious 7 debuted during Sunday night’s Super Bowl game, opening with an explosive scene in which the film’s familiar gaggle of gearheads — including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and the late Paul Walker — are seen relaxing at a house that’s soon engulfed in flames. The perpetrator of the high-octane attack, played by Jason Statham, is the vengeance-seeking brother of one of the gang’s old enemies. And it’s clear that he’s going to help make this latest Furious film (due in theaters April 3) the most over-the-top installment yet.

"The most important thing in life will always be family," Diesel says at the teaser’s beginning — a poignant theme for the Furious franchise, which was struck a painful blow when star Paul Walker was killed in an auto accident in 2013, forcing production to halt. (Walker’s two brothers eventually stepped in to help complete filming.) The fate of Walker’s character in Furious 7 is unknown, though as the new trailer makes clear, no one in the Furious gang is safe this time around.

The trailer’s other highlight: A ridiculously rousing mid-air chase scene, in which a Diesel-driven sports car crashes through the side of a desert skyscraper, glides through the air, and crashes into a neighboring tower, just in time to interrupt a fancy-pants art show. We’ll see if audiences will fly to the movie when Furious 7 opens this spring.
