Firsts With Nathalie Emmanuel: The ‘Furious 7’ Breakout on Her Teenage Debt Collection Job
Nathalie Emmanuel has come a long way since pestering delinquent credit-card customers. The Furious 7 star, who broke out as Missandei in HBO’s Game of Thrones, recalled her unglamorous first job working for a bank when she was 16 during our Yahoo Firsts interview, which you can watch above.
“I was in outbound collections, which means I used to call people when they hadn’t paid their credit card [bill],” she said. “'Just so you know, you’ve been charged.’ Which was really good coming from a 16-year-old.”
The 26-year-old England native also told us about paying her own dues as a child actress who had to be bribed to pretend she was sleeping while filming an airplane commercial. She was also part of the company in a London stage production of The Lion King, a gig that made her want to pursue acting as a career. (Among her other revelations: She used to really love The Spice Girls.)
Emmanuel shouldn’t have any problems paying her own bills given the response she’s received for her role as the brilliant hacker Ramsey in Furious 7, in which she finds a fast spot on Vin Diesel’s crew.
She’ll next be seen as Harriet in September’s YA sequel, The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials.
