Phillips is charged with creating new digital coverage of movies, with a particular focus on growing THR.com's already expanding consumer audience.
Before joining THR, Sean spent nine years at Yahoo. In his most recent role as GM and editor-in-chief of Yahoo Movies, the industry's top movies-only website (he also ran Yahoo Kids), Phillips pioneered online video delivery as the first entertainment site to reach 1 billion video streams and served as executive producer of all original video programs and special event coordination. This included talent interviews, new shows, live chats and red carpet premieres for events like Sundance, Comic-Con, the Indie Spirit Awards and Twilight. He worked closely with the sales and marketing teams to help expand the Yahoo Movies audience from about 5 million monthly unique users to more than 32 million monthly uniques and helped drive the business from $6 million-$7 million in sales to $38 million annually.

THR.com recently recorded the highest traffic in the site's history, notching more than 2 million visits and more than 1.8 million unique visitors In a single day. Both of those numbers broke THR.com's previous single-day record for visits and uniques by 15 percent.
