Former Top Fox Exec Joe Earley Named President Of Gail Berman’s Jackal Group

A month after Joe Earley left Fox following a 21-year executive tenure, he is back in the company fold as president of The Jackal Group, Gail Berman’s joint production venture with Fox TV Group. Earley will oversee all areas of The Jackal Group’s television, film, theater and digital divisions, reporting to chairman and CEO Berman in a reunion of the two executives who worked together at Fox Broadcasting Co. when Berman was entertainment president there.

“Joe is an exceptional leader with a sharp eye for terrific content, and he possesses a special ability of inspiring those around him with seeming ease,” said Berman. “I am so happy to have him as a friend and creative partner as we as we continue to build the company.”

Earley, who joined Fox as a senior publicist in 1994, rose to President of Marketing and Communications and then COO before being named COO of the Fox TV Group in the summer 2014. At Fox, he shepherded some of the most successful TV launch campaigns in the past few years, including Glee, New Girl, which included then-groundbreaking VOD partnerships, and megahit Empire.

The Jackal Group job is in line with Earley’s desire to go into producing, which he shared with Deadline at the time his exit from Fox was announced. “I started in the business with the goal of being a producer,” said Earley, whose first job was working for producer Gale Anne Hurd. “Through those great opportunities (at Fox) over the years, I’ve let myself further and further from that goal, so I wanted to go back and have experience on the creative side.”

Joining The Jackal Group “not only reunites me with my friend Gail, who inspires creators to infuse great projects with the innovation and commercial appeal this market needs, but also allows me to fully blend my creative pursuits with the operational and marketing experience that will help this business grow,” Earley added today.

The Jackal Group currently has comedy series Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life on Fox and Easiest Game Show Ever on Pop. The company is also in pre-production on The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a two-hour remake of the cult classic for Fox, with Laverne Cox, Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan starring. In development, The Jackal Group has Horrorstör based on Grady Hendrix’s novel of the same name, which received a put pilot commitment from Fox; and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up adapted from Marie Kondo’s best-selling book, set up at NBC, in addition to several features.
