Brad Thompson is the latest Weinstein Co. alum to join Focus Features.
The former senior vp corporate communications at TWC is reuniting with his colleague Dani Weinstein at Focus, where he will be vp publicity beginning May 1.
Thompson left TWC in December after four years at the company. Last month, Weinstein joined Focus as executive vp publicity. Thompson will report to Weinstein, and both will be based in New York.
In his new role at Focus, Thompson will focus on so-called "off-the-entertainment pages" coverage or stories that have a social, cultural, political or charitable component. That dovetails with Focus' mission of supporting films that make a lasting impact on global audiences beyond entertainment and effect change. Thompson and Weinstein will work together on corporate communications.
"I am thrilled to join the Focus team and reunite with Dani," Thompson said Thursday in a statement. "Whether it's been working in entertainment or politics, I've always considered it valuable for the work to make a positive, larger impact. I couldn't be more excited to have that same opportunity with the quality films Focus has lined up."
Before joining TWC, Thompson spent 10 years in politics, working for New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and then President Barack Obama. Thompson will be on hand next month at the Cannes Film Festival, where Focus will debut Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled. He will begin working on the campaigns for other Focus films, including The Book of Henry, Victoria and Abdul, Darkest Hour and Paul Thomas Anderson's untitled fashion-world project starring Daniel Day-Lewis.
